As ACMA’s president this year, I strongly encourage you to attend ACMA’s 2026 Spring Meeting, to be held April 23-25 at the historic Broadmoor in beautiful Colorado Springs, CO! Hyperbole in real estate and resort listings are expected. Yet every once in a while, a few properties live up to their hype. The Anschutz properties in Colorado Springs and Sea Island, Georgia, both Forbes Five-Star resorts, absolutely do so!
Why am I talking about the Sea Island Resort in this invitation to our Spring Meeting at The Broadmoor? It is because the very first ACMA meeting I attended, in 2003, was in Sea Island, a resort also owned by the Anschutz family. Unaccustomed to staying at Five-Star resorts, my husband and I were completely blown away by the beauty of the resort and its extensive amenities and service. More importantly, I was awed by the welcoming I received from ACMA’s Executive Committee, its committee chairs, and the attending Fellows. I knew then that I was going to “pay back” ACMA for accepting me into the College. It is truly hard to believe that it has been 22 years since I was accepted as a Fellow in the College!
Now, about The Broadmoor! The Anschutz Corporation has expended considerable resources in solidifying The Broadmoor’s status as a premier destination. It is owned by a family trust whose strategic plan requires a focus on history, tradition, service, and excellence. There is no doubt that The Broadmoor goes over and above to meet the pillars of its strategic plan!
The rooms are first class, and the outdoor spaces could not be more beautiful. The golf courses, the on-site museum and the spa – no one does it better! Dining at The Broadmoor is an experience unto itself. You can enjoy several fine dining options, a variety of relaxed character-rich venues, and even a restaurant at the base of Seven Falls that offers breathtaking views of the canyon! All of The Broadmoor restaurants reflect the resort’s commitment to exceptional cuisine, attentive service and unforgettable settings.
If this is not enough to entice you to attend, come play golf at The Broadmoor’s two championship courses or take a falconry lesson at the mews. And, don’t leave out a train ride on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, a visit to the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame or the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum, the Manitou Springs Cliff Dwellings & Museum, the subterranean chambers at Cave of the Winds, the National Museum of World War II Aviation, the Space Foundation Headquarters and Discovery Center, the ProRodeo Hall of Fame, the U.S. Air Force Academy, Old Colorado City and of course, a hike on many of the scenic trails located next to The Broadmoor.
Once again, ACMA will offer two hours of elite level CLE. Additionally, the Board of Regents, Regional Chairs, Council of Committee Chairs, and the ACMA Foundation board will hold important administrative meetings. ACMA will also provide times for its many committees to meet. Our networking receptions will be exceptional, and most of our dine-arounds will be onsite, making getting to and from the restaurants easy.
All Regents, Regional Chairs, and committee chairs are expected to attend in-person, as hybrid participation will not be provided. All other Fellows are encouraged to attend and participate in all meetings and networking functions. For those who are newer to ACMA, your spouse, partner, children or guests are ALWAYS welcome to attend. Optional activities will be offered to the Fellows’ guests during the formal morning meetings.
So, bring a future nominee to the College, your spouse or significant other, children and grandchildren and come enjoy a Spring Meeting you will never forget! I look forward to spending time with you in Colorado Springs!
Dena M. Cruz
2025-2026 ACMA President
